Celebrating the Amazing Dr. Seuss!

Hello! I'm Kadie from 7Alive All Livin' in a Double Wide, I'm really excited to be here today to show you our Dr. Seuss Day. Dr. Seuss day was on March 2nd, and is the day we celebrate all the wonderful books Dr. Seuss gave us. We like to make an entire day of it with a craft, snack, activities, and of course plenty of book reading. Who doesn't LOVE Dr. Seuss? We adore all things Dr. Seuss around here and are so excited to share with you our DIY "Cat in the Hat" hats that we made for Dr. Seuss day. These hats are fun, mess free, and perfect for little hands to make with little adult supervision.
Mess Free Cat in the Hat Hats for Kids
For each hat you will need ~
  • Two sheets red construction paper/card stock.
  • Double sided tape
  • Cotton balls
  • stapler {optional}
  • scissors
Place 3-4 strips of double-sided tape on one sheet of red paper. Then have the kids add all the cotton balls they can fit onto the tape. While they are adding the cotton balls, cut 2 inch strips out of the second piece of paper. When they are done adding cotton balls add one strip to each side of the paper with cotton balls on it. You can attach them with double-sided tape, or if you want them to be more secure you can use your stapler. Measure around your child's head and tape {staple} the ends of the stripes of paper together so it fits snugly on their heads. You want the hat to fit right about their ears so that the paper will stand up like the Cat in the Hat's hat.
Of course you can't have a Dr. Seuss day without a snack. We had to have "Cat in the Hat" snacks. We started with whipped cream on a plate then layered banana and strawberries, to look like the cat in the hat. Cat in the Hat Snacks   We have read all the Dr. Seuss books so many times, I wanted to see if the kids could remember the beginning, middle, and end of the book enough to tell me the story with their finger puppets. Learning to recognize the beginning middle and end of a story is an important skill in reading comprehension.
